nChapter 8
nThere was silence in the car, and this was the first time Anhao realized what it truly meant to be alone with him. Both of them never had the time to get to know each other due to the outrageous embarrassment and utter chaos last time.
nIn addition, a stack of files within Zuo Hancheng’s hands was also the reason they had not driven off yet. And on top of the files was Gu Anhao’s photo.
nIn the photo, Anhao had a neat ear-length bob hair that was not dyed nor permed, snowy white skin, and a face the size of a palm. From the looks of it, she appeared way more obedient and tranquil—elegant, neat, and tidy like the child of a beauty.
nIn contrast, Anhao in the passenger seat right now still had her elegant bob hair, but her face looked quite flustered due to the small bruises Mrs. Xu had inflicted upon her.
nShe still looked like a student in the present day. However, in comparison with that chaotic first encounter last month, she looked like a delinquent due to her deliberately wearing her school uniform inside out.
nZuo Hancheng knew that this girl, who frequently went to the bar with an outrageous wig and a smart-looking outfit, and had collapsed into his arms while in a daze, was a rather wild girl underneath her elegant and clean appearance! Putting aside the fact that she currently looked quite pitiful…
n“The principal gave my files to you?”
nFeeling uneasy, Anhao asked Zuo Hancheng upon seeing him taking a look at her files.
nThose files were just her admission forms three years ago. Anhao was still able to keep calm upon seeing that no records of her past few years of outrageous misdeeds were on the forms.
nAfter reading a few pages of her admission forms, Zuo Hancheng put those files down while seemingly not intending to answer her question.
n“So where do you wanna go?” The man’s crisp and pleasant voice broke both the silence in the car and Anhao’s crippling nervousness.
nAnhao turned to look at the man after regaining her senses. She was not quite clear about this man’s identity, but she knew that he was assuredly more than meets the eye.
nCompared to the policemen the Xu family found, the judicial police who tagged along with Zuo Hancheng were actually the commissioners of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, and were proven to be even more useful. At the same time, they all treated him respectfully and did not dare to mess with him.
nAnhao had never seen other people greet and flatter others besides that hypocritical father of hers, Gu Tianming,
n“Actually, I did not want to trouble you yesterday, but those policemen forced me to. As such, I let them randomly find one of the contact numbers in my phone, in the end…”
nWhile saying so, she secretly glanced again at the emotionally detached man who was calmly looking at her.
nWith her face turning hot for no reason, Anhao turned away to hide her awkwardness after staring at each other for a while. “Anyway, thanks a lot! I need to go back to school.”
nAfter saying so, an embarrassing rumbling sound came from her stomach, causing Anhao to bite her lips. Wanting to vanish in front of the man immediately, her hand hurriedly reached for the car door.
nJust as she got hold of the lock, Zuo Hancheng suddenly locked all the doors in his car.
nShe froze and turned back at the silent Zuo Hancheng who had already started his car engine.
nWhile frozen and not knowing exactly how to get along with this man, she heard him ask, “How long have you not eaten anything?”
nTo come to think of it, she had not eaten anything ever since yesterday afternoon, causing her to embarrass herself in front of the man. As such, she gave out an honest answer while touching her stomach, “One day.”
n“So, what do you wanna eat?”
nAnhao saw that he was driving into the high-speed traffic on the road and she knew that stopping the car was completely impossible at this time, nor getting out of it at will.
n“Anything is fine.”
nWhat Anhao meant was that she just wanted to eat something, like a steamed bun.
nAs such, Zuo Hancheng directly took her to a recently famous high-end restaurant in A City. It was probably due to the prosperous area of the city center being not too far from where they were now.
nWhile having their meal, Zuo Hancheng received a call from some foreign friends who seemingly wanted to meet up with him. However, Anhao was still finishing up her food without disturbing nor listening to whatever he was saying.
nAnhao went back inside the car, feeling even more relaxed after the meal. And she had not slept for the past two days due to the trouble she had with the police and the Xu family.
nNow that she was completely off the hook, she just wanted to hit the sack on a big comfortable bed and forget whatever transpired in the bar. Therefore, she directly covered her face with her school uniform in an attempt to avoid direct eye contact with Zuo Hancheng.
nWith the car unknowingly having arrived at the entrance of A High School, Anhao woke up the moment the car stopped, and she looked out of the window with a bit of indifference. At the same time, she heard Zuo Hancheng say, “Sleep early.”
n“Alright, and I… thank you for today too.”
nAnhao had no idea how she even got off the car.
nAll in all, she was completely in a daze ever since Zuo Hancheng appeared today.
nNot to mention the fact that she still had no idea who her newly-wedded husband actually was, especially after the Bentley drove away in front of her.
nHowever, she knew that there was absolutely no way she would hit the jackpot in any circumstance.
nHe probably might have some acquaintances in the police, which she assumed to be just a coincidence.
nJust as Anhao had gone through the school entrance, Chunchun crashed into her from out of nowhere.
nChunchun was Anhao’s best friend. “Anhao? Where’ve you been? I was worried sick about you!”
n“Don’t worry about me! Problem solved!” Anhao grinned. “I bet those two sweethearts surnamed Xu will be facing the music tonight. Makes me feel absolutely happy when I think about it.”
n“Really? I guess you returned to the Gu family to find someone…”
nAnhao’s excitement changed instantly the moment she heard about the Gu family. “Don’t tell me you forgot that I’d never return to the Gu family to ask for help!”
nChunchun quickly changed the subject after seeing that Anhao looked rather murderous due to her mentioning the very thorn of her past. “How about we do a few shots at the bar just to celebrate?”
nFeeling better again, Anhao turned around and walked out of the school with glee. “Let’s go. It’ll be on me~”
n***
nEnchanting Bar was where they often visited, and it was a place where Anhao earned extra income by selling alcohol every night. Not to mention the amount of commission for each and every bottle of alcohol was quite generous there.
nAfter directly opening a private room, they went wild until past 11 pm late at night.
nAll of a sudden, the bar manager entered the room and was less than pleased seeing both girls so terribly drunk to the point of collapsing on the sofa.
n“Hey, you two ladies! Tomorrow’s the weekend. Don’t tell me you forgot how busy this place is on Fridays, why did you drink so much? What’s with you two? Do you plan on drinking and not working? Don’t you wanna work here anymore?”
nChunchun was unable to get up due to being terribly drunk, while Anhao looked up at him with her eyes squinted and blurred. “We’re not here to work tonight; we’re here to spend quality time!”
n“Spend quality time?! Hurry up and deliver five bottles of Louis XIII to a major client!”
nWith a spark in her eyes, Anhao, who was already drunk to the point of being confused, immediately got up on her feet and held onto their manager’s leg.
n“Louis XIII?! Five bottles?! Seriously?!”
