n“You really don’t know, Ms. Gu?” Mobai thought that President Zuo’s identity was known by almost everyone in A City and there was no need to hide anything. He smiled as he stared at Anhao’s expression.

nAnhao pursed her lips for a moment. “I rarely read any business news. I didn’t pay attention to those too in the past so of course I don’t know.”

nMobai raised his eyebrows and sighed, “Alright then. You should have at least heard of Shengling Group.”

nAnhao raised her eyebrows, “I’ve heard of them. It’s said that they’re a really big family business and an even more prestigious multinational enterprise in the inland. It seems like they’re the top ten or top hundred most influential enterprises too. Their former headquarters was in Los Angeles and they’ve moved their headquarters back here a few years ago. I’ve heard about big news like this in the business world even though I don’t care much about it!”

nNot bad. This girl’s knowledge was not that shallow.

nMobai held back his laughter. “President Zuo is the international CEO of Shengling Group.”

n“…!!!”

nAnhao’s head felt like it was about to explode.

nWhen she was caught and cornered by the members of the Gu family at the hotel with Zuo Hancheng, it was strange seeing the humiliated expressions of Gu Shishi and her mother, including the second and third uncle of the Gu family.

nAfter that, due to a moment of impulse, she went from being passive to getting married to Zuo Hancheng on her own will. She did not give much thought to it.

nThat was why he could afford to live in Giltview Garden! The land where Giltview Garden was built on was auctioned to a sky-high value. Everyone thought that the developers would not earn anything, it was then Shengling Group took over the development of the place. In the end, it became a small neighbourhood with only sixty six residences but it was able to rake in a few times more than it was worth. It also became the highest selling development among the real estate transactions in A City.

nSeeing Anhao’s expression all muddled up, Mobai smiled. He covered his mouth and coughed slightly. “Ms. Gu, do you have any more questions?”

n“No…”

n“Then, I shall see myself out now. Please remember to take your medicine. I reckon you can be discharged in a few more days.”

nMobai smiled politely at her, turned around and left.

nAs soon as the door was closed up, Anhao reached for her phone on the table and started searching for Zuo Hancheng’s name.

nHer phone was smashed during the incident. This was a new phone that Zuo Hancheng had ordered someone to buy for her. There was no sim card for now but there was wifi in the hospital so she could access to the internet.

nWhen she searched for Zuo Hancheng’s name, even though he kept a low profile and there was not much information on the media, a simple introduction and a picture of his side profile was enough to prove that Mobai’s words were true.

nHe really was the CEO of Shengling Group!

nThere would always be small bookstalls that would sell those boring CEO novels at the entrance of A High. Anhao had also flipped through some of them. They were novels with titles like ‘Overbearing CEO falling in love with me’, or ‘Overbearing CEO and the little lamb’ and so on. The stories were always about the big boss and Cinderella. Any girl would like these kinds of melodramatic plots.

nHowever, the word ‘dumbfounded’ was written all over Anhao’s face right now.

nBeing in the Gu family, she would always stand in a corner so as to not stand out as she looked at these so-called high-profile people from the business world.

nThose people were shrewd and they were all masters of backstabbing. The higher they stood, the more dangerous they were. Not to mention, all those in the business world were profiteers. Someone like Zuo Hancheng was not an easy character.

nShe had fallen into the hands of such a man. What in the world had she gotten herself into?

nAnhao bit her nails as she sat on the bed until Zuo Hancheng returned from his company three hours later. She instantly sat up straight—her eyes wide open as she stared at him.

nThe moment he entered the room, he saw the girl sitting on the bed all frozen, like a wax figure. Zuo Hancheng’s eyes narrowed and he noticed that her eyes were as huge as light bulbs.

nBefore he could open his mouth, Anhao quickly said in a stern manner, “Tell me! What’s your motive for marrying me?!”

nZuo Hancheng’s eyes were calm as he scanned her from head to toe—a questioning stance with hands on her hips. “Do you think that you have something that’s of any worth and of use to me?”

n“I asked because I don’t know! If not, why would you, the CEO of Shengling Group, marry me, a high school student who doesn’t have any power and was not loved by my parents?!”

nZuo Hancheng appeared to not want to deal with her as he went in and simply threw his coat on the sofa. After remaining silent for a while, his voice was calm when he said, “Since I would have to marry a woman that I don’t love sooner or later, isn’t it the same as marrying just anyone? Even though you are worth nothing, you still have the title of the mayor’s daughter. This should count as a well-matched marriage and prevent the two families from arguing over troublesome matters.”

n“…”

nAnhao felt that she might be too young, that was why she could not decipher the meaning behind those words.

nWhat did he mean when he said that he would be marrying a woman he did not love sooner or later?

nThen, that must mean that he had loved someone before…

nAnhao quietly turned her head and looked at him. The light from the sunset projecting from the window onto the man’s face made him look particularly elegant, bringing with it an aura that was rather attractive.

nSuch an outstanding man, such an important man that was respected by everyone, was there anything that was beyond his control?

nZuo Hancheng then turned to look at her and their eyes met, Anhao who had been spying on him was caught by his deep, dark eyes. It shocked her for a moment and she said in a hurry, “One, I’m not loved in the Gu family, and two, I don’t have a place there! I’m Gu Tianming’s illegitimate child! My name isn’t even registered under the household registry!”

nZuo Hancheng merely looked at her placidly, not uttering a single word.

nAnhao licked her lips that had become inexplicably dry under his gaze.

n“I’m an illegitimate daughter! A dishonour to the family! Which means that that well-matched marriage that you were talking about is void! Also, I’m still young. I only went to the Department of Civil Affairs on an impulse! If you’re regretting it now, I will immediately divorce you! I would never hold you back!”

nZuo Hancheng still said nothing. His calm, black eyes were locked onto that expression of hers which made her seem like a cautious little creature. His gaze seemed to be twinkling with traces of piqued interest.

n“Are you done?” Finally, he opened his mouth.

nAnhao stared at the calm man. She could not take her eyes off him.

nHowever, whenever she thought about his identity and status, and back to her own, she still felt like she had accidentally stepped onto cloud nine. It was simply unrealistic! Utterly and wholly unrealistic!

n“Yeah, I’m done.” She leaned back on her propped up pillow, feeling a little guilty. Her voice had become feeble and weak, losing its usual eccentric and unreasonable tone.

nIt was until the man started walking toward her that Anhao’s body instantly tensed up. She warily glanced at him. “W-What do you want to do…”
